Kilkenny Camogie have announced Meighan Farrell as the new senior captain for 2021.
The Thomastown clubwoman shared the honours with her sister Anna in the 2019 season.
Originally planning to sit out 2020 and depart for Australia, Covid-19 travel restrictions saw Farrell stay on home shores, continuing with her club and county last season.
It paid off too, the Kittens claiming their first senior All-Ireland camogie title under manager Brian Dowling, and their first since 2016 as they saw off a determined Galway side in December last.

Farrell now has the task of leading Kilkenny to back-to-back All-Ireland titles and takes over from Dicksboro’s Lucinda Gahan.
With Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions set to remain in place until Easter “at the earliest”, a joint statement from the GAA, LFGA and Camogie Association last night put paid to any plans for inter-county action until restrictions ease, meaning it could be a few months yet before Kilkenny can get back to training and competitive fixtures.
