Kilkenny manager Brian Dowling says it’s great to see camogie players being listened to at the top level and to be given further recognition.

He was reacting to the news announced that camogie players and ladies footballers will receive the same level of grant funding on a per-player basis as their male counterparts.

Brian said the recent vote on the season structure by players shows that their voice needs to be heard.

“I think things need to change and I think they are changing, (regarding) equality between men and women and with the grants in the last couple of weeks, I think it is improving and even the live streaming the games now, it’s getting better,” said Brian.

“It would be great hopefully when the crowds get back in that the numbers will start getting going for the camogie championships and that” he added.

Regarding the finishing of the provincial and all Ireland club championships, Brian said:

“I can understand, if I was in the club championships, I would be upset that it was cancelled, whether that will change or that I don’t know, in fairness to them (players) they were told that the club championships was going ahead so it probably should go ahead”.
