Offaly man Tom Moloney has been appointed GAA Handball’s new Interim Manager.
A former GAA Operations Manager in Offaly, Moloney takes over the post left void by John Kelly who departed the organisation at the end of 2021.
Moloney takes the reigns at an uncertain time for the sport in Ireland with competitions being curtailed and delayed over the last two years due to the restrictions in place on indoor sports.
There will be little time for evaluation in January for the new Interim Manager, with the She’s Ace taking place on January 15th and 16th before the Adult 4-Wall Nationals begin two weeks later.
A statement from GAA Handball read: “GAA Handball and Cumann Luthchleas Gael are pleased to announce the appointment of Tom Moloney to the role of Interim Handball Manager.
“Tom was formerly GAA Operations Manager in Offaly and brings a wealth of commercial and GAA experience to his new role.
“This is an exciting time for GAA Handball, with the pending opening of the new National Handball Centre and the recently launched Strategic Plan. Tom will play a key role in both projects, as well as managing the day-to-day operation of GAA Handball.
“GAA Handball will also, during Tom’s term, undertake a structural review of its operations, under the guidance of a new interim Steering Group chaired by GAA Handball Uachtaran Dessie Keegan.”
