The conditions may have been tough, but then everyone had to play in them.

2022’s GAA Poc Fada All-Ireland finals were held on bank holiday Monday with the Cooley Mountains once more providing the backdrop for Ireland’s lock puck competitions.

On the local front, Carlow’s Brian Treacy and Kilkenny’s Killian Phelan (Clara) were flying the flag on the senior hurling front with Noelle Murphy of Lisdowney doing the same on the camogie side.

Yesterday was a busy one on the Cooley Mountains as the 2022 @GAAPocFada All Irelands took place.

A massive well done in particular to Killian Phelan and Darragh Smith who added National titles to their Provincial victories earlier this summer! #LeinsterGAA | #GAAPocFada pic.twitter.com/djCsTSOews

When the final measurements were taken, Clara’s Killian Phelan was crowned king of the hill to take the 2022 title, seeing off 2021 champion Colin Ryan (Limerick) and another former champion, Offaly’s Cillian Keily, in the process.

There was more history made on the mountain with Sarsfields Camogie Club sisters Molly and Lucy Lynch taking the senior and under 16 titles. Westmeath’s Darragh Smith was crowned under 16 hurling winner ahead of Limerick’s Tadhg Boddy.
