Mullinavat will face Shandonagh in the quarter-final of the Leinster intermediate football championship following their defeat of Bracknagh in Saturday’s first-round tie.

There are a number of players in the Mullinavat panel who were involved in Kilkenny’s Junior All-Ireland winning team earlier this year as interest in the sport peaked in the county.

However, speaking after his side’s victory, Mullinavat manager Michael Aylward said that there is a lack of respect within the county for the sport.

They drew 1-1 with Shakhtar Donetsk at Parkhead meaning they’ll finish bottom of Group F.

Elsewhere in the group, defending champions Real Madrid saw their 100 percent record come to an end with a 3-2 defeat away to R-B Leipzig.

Manchester City has secured the top spot in Group G, despite playing out a goalless draw away to Borussia Dortmund.

The Bundesliga side will also go through in second.

Sevilla will finish third following this evening’s 3-nil win at home to ten-man Copenhagen.

Chelsea has also booked their place in the last 16 courtesy of a 2-1 victory away to R-B Salzburg.

Kai Havertz scored the winner with a superb curled effort midway through the second half.

Tonight

A point for Liverpool tonight away to Ajax will secure their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Group A’s other game sees Napoli look to preserve their 100 percent record with the visit of Rangers.

Tottenham can cement their place at the top of Group D with a win over Sporting.

RUGBY

Andy Farrell says next week’s test with the Springboks will have no bearing on next year’s World Cup.

Ireland are due to play the defending champions in their third pool match at next year’s tournament.

Farrell says he has a full squad from which to choose ahead of next week’s game, with Joey Carbery taking a full part in training this week.

Boxing

Katie Taylor says she’s anxious to get a homecoming fight at Croke Park over the line for next year.

The undisputed lightweight champion claims a date had been booked for September for a rematch with Amanda Serrano.

Taylor puts her titles on the line at Wembley Arena on Saturday against Karen Carabaja.

RACING

There’s a seven-race card at The Curragh this afternoon.

The first is due to get underway at five-past-1.
