Carlow finally get their VERY Camogie League campaign underway this weekend.

There’s a new management team in place this year with Clara club manager and former Kilkenny senior hurler Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere having taken over the reins of the county team. After he helped guide Clara to a senior championship semi-final in Kilkenny last season, a trip to Louth this Saturday now marks his first competitive game in of The Barrowsiders;

Despite the late start to proceedings, Cleere’s been telling us they’ve got plenty of match experience under their belts already this year.

“We had six or seven challenge matches over the last couple of months, which have been brilliant for us. We played the Kilkenny intermediates, Wexford intermediates, Waterford, and SETU Carlow on a couple of occasions, so we had some really good challenge matches.”

“We learned a huge amount, I suppose about ourselves as a management group and the players. While there are only three competitive games for us in the league, we have had plenty of games so we are well-ready and well-tuned to hit the ground running.”
