March 18th, Dublin. Our capital city will be hopping. Anyday Ireland takes on England on home soil is special, especially with a Six Nations Championship up for grabs. However, this blockbuster occasion is not the only international sporting event to take place in our fair city this weekend.
Over The Top Wrestling will be showcasing its own answer to WWE’s Wrestlemania when they present Scrappermania VII live in the National Stadium. Thousands of fans will flock to see the best of homegrown talent & international favorites on a stacked card. However, while we Irish fans will be buzzing with anticipation in the lead-up to the big day, it marks just one day in a three-day calendar for the OTT Crew.

Starting proceedings will be a show in Wolverhampton in England on the 17th, with a show in Belfast rounding out the wrestle-fest on the 19th. We caught up with owner and promoter Joe Cabray ahead of an incredibly busy weekend for the company:
“The first Scrappermania probably had about 250 people in the Tivoli, and now we up to over 2000 in the National Stadium. Doing it in Wolverhampton and Belfast.”
“It is important for us to keep expanding and showcasing Irish Wrestling, and bringing the best name that we can to the UK and scene there.”

Some of the international names include AEW stars Eddie Kingston & Pac, along with former WWE alumni Killian Dane (Big Damo), Trent Seven & Santino Marella. The mix of this world-renowned talent and the up-and-coming Irish wrestlers has seen Ireland becoming one of the leading producers in the next top stars. Indeed in recent times, many have appeared in WWE NXT and on AEW television, however, it remains to be seen who is going to be the next breakout star.
It could possibly be “The Snake” Sammy D, who is competing for the OTT World Championship and has the right to call himself the first ever OTT Grand Slam Champion. He takes on current Champ Omari in the main event on the night, with Joe Cabray seeming proud to witness Sammy’s ascension through the rank.
“Sam has done tremendously well, he was on the very first OTT show in 2014, and now he is headlining the National Stadium with the man event against Omari. So if he can win the OTT world title, he will be the first Irish man to do so in 4 years.”
There are many matches that immediately grab, however, one in particular, stands out, and that is Debbie Keitel and “Session Moth” Martina for the OTT Women’s Championship. Both stars have been a staple of the division for years, and all you have to do is check out the hype video below for bout to understand how this rivalry has ended up at the Irish Showcase of the Immortals. Fun fact the video also features the musical stylings of Carlow’s own “Beef Supreme”.
