Hurling

Eoin Cody feels as though a victory for Kilkenny over Limerick in Sunday’s Allianz National Hurling League final will be hugely significant ahead of the Leinster championship.

In an exclusive interview with KCLR’s Scoreline, which you can hear in full from 5 pm tomorrow, Kilkenny captain Cody said that a win against the All-Ireland champions will leave the team in good stead with the provincial championship on the horizon later this month.

On Saturday the Carlow hurlers begin their Joe McDonagh campaign against Kildare

Both sides are managed by two Kilkenny men with Tom Mullaley facing off against David Herity Kildare are coming off the back of a league final loss, but hopes are high for the barrowsdiers with that game throwing in on our Carlow frequencies at 3pm with thanks to ray whelan waste managment

For the Carlow, under 20’s it was a tough night in O’Moore Park in their championship encounter with Laois.

Two goals in the first half someone put the game to bed with the finishing scoreline reading 3-27 to 15 points.

Both Counties minors teams are out today as Carlow travels to Mullingar to face Westmeath for a 2 pm throw-in. While Kilkenny welcomes Galway to UPMC Nowlan Park for a 5 o’clock throw-in.

It’s a huge weekend for our local sides as the three of them compete in the Provincial Towns Cup Semi-Finals

Carlow clashes with Tullow in Enniscorthy while Kilkenny takes on Cill Dara in Portlaoise with 3 pm kick off’s for both games on Sunday.
