Dubai will host two consecutive events this November on the European Tour following confirmation that another event at Jumeirah Golf Estates will go ahead in the winter.
The AVIV Dubai Championship has been brought forward from its original December date so that it can take place before the DP World Tour Championship.
The event will slot into the calendar instead of the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa, which will make its return on the Tour in 2022 for its 40th anniversary.
Along with the AVIV Dubai Championship from November 11 to 14, the Mallorca Golf Open and Portugal Masters are new additions to the European Tour and will provide players and fans alike with an element of freshness to what is widely considered as the poorer relative to the much richer and high-profile PGA Tour.
Speaking following the news, European Tour chief executive Keith Pelley said: “Last year’s tournament, created to complete our 2020 schedule, was a great success and we are delighted to bring the AVIV Dubai Championship to our schedule as the final piece in our jigsaw this season.
“It means we will have two strong ‘Swings’ to end our 2021 campaign – the Iberian Swing in Spain and Portugal and now this Dubai double-header at Jumeirah Golf Estates.”
