Amond All Set For Wembley Dream

Amond in action for Grimsby

Grimsby Towns Padraig Amond says when his professional career finishes up he’ll be straight back to GAA with Ballinabranna & Naomh Brid.

The Carlow man has followed in the footsteps of Kevin Moran and Shane Long in having played GAA in Croke Park and SOCCER in Wembley Stadium where his side Grimsby Town were promoted at the weekend.

Padraig collected nine awards from his club this season for his goal scoring exploits.

Padraig told KCLR that he misses the GAA…..

“Whenever I finish up (playing soccer) ill go back and play (gaa)”

“It doesn’t matter what age I finish at, ill come back and play somewhere anyway, I miss hurling and football an awful lot”

“Whenever I get back home I always take the hurl out with Aaron, the little brother, and always pucking the ball around and that, the touch is not completely gone yet but it does need a lot of work”
