By Tommy Murphy

Ballinkillen easily brushed aside the challenge of a very depleted Naomh Brid side in the Carlow Junior Hurling Championship Semi finals last night.

In the second semi-final Naomh Eoin were eight points clear over Palatine entering the last quarter Palatine rallied with two quick goals from Liam Kenny and Eoin McMahon and it fell to McMahon to send over the equalizer to tie the sides up at 3-7 each the chances were there for each to win but a draw was a fair result.

Seamus Smithers got Naomh Eoin’s first goal and Robbie Foley shot the other two, Niall Reid got Palatine’s first goal. So Ballinkillen has to wait for the replay to see who they will meet in the final.

In the J.J. Kavanagh intermediate hurling championship

Carlow Town bounced back to record their first win with a 1-19 to 0-10 over St. Mullins at Netwatch Carlow Training Centre.

In round four of the J. J. Kavanagh and Sons senior hurling championship St. Mullins will be disappointed to have received a walk over from Naomh Brid. Lack of numbers and injuries are Naomh Brid’s problems.

There is only one game at Netwatch Cullen Park this evening

Ballinkillen play Erins Own at 6-30
