On Sunday last, Bennettsbridge put back-to-back Junior and Intermediate titles together after they beat Galway’s Abbeyknockmoy 1-17 to 1-14 in one of the finest displays of club hurling in recent times.

Despite the teams being 10 points apiece going in at the break whenever the bridge pulled ahead, it seemed to awaken Abbeyknockmoy who would then pull in front.

The ‘Bridge were up against it in the closing stages of the game and trailed by 4 points with 12 minutes to go however a Sean Morrissey floating high ball managed to find its way into the net which ultimately decided the game.

Post Match Reaction

Morrissey finished with a 1-6 tally and was given man-of-the-match, he told KCLR’s Kevin Regan that the support up there for them was incredible.

Kevin also caught up with Nicky Cleere to get his reaction Bennettsbridge doing an unprecedented All-Ireland club hurling double.
