The Carlow ladies’ football team have qualified for next month’s All-Ireland Junior Football Championship semi-final on scoring difference following a 1-09 to 1-10 defeat to London at Netwatch Cullen Park on Sunday.
Having already defeated Fermanagh and Derry in their opening two fixtures, Ed Burke’s side knew that a third consecutive win would guarantee a semi-final berth.
Despite losing by the narrowest of margins, the Barrowsiders could celebrate as they avoided elimination due to their superior scoring difference.
The game also saw the largest crowd attend a ladies football fixture in Netwatch Cullen Park in a number of years.
Fermanagh also sealed their spot in the semis with a defeat of Derry at the weekend.
Carlow will now face Limerick in the semi-final on July 10th.
