So it turns out that Padraig Amond isn’t the only Professional Footballer in England with strong Carlow connections.
Scott Hogan was speaking to The Times yesterday and revealed that his father is part of a large Carlow family.
“It’s just on my dad’s side, quite a big family from Carlow. That’s where it all comes from. My mum’s English. My dad’s very proud and so is my grandma.”
Hogan scored 14 goals for Brentford last season before heading to Villa and he would be a serious addition to the Republic of Ireland squad.
Kilkenny’s Seanie Maguire has been named in the squad recently and if Hogan follows suit then we could have plenty to talk about here on KCLR!
