Carlow open their 2016 Allianz Hurling League campaign against Kildare on Valentine’s Day, senior hurling boss Pat English suggesting there’ll be no love lost between the sides, even if somewhat jokingly.

The National Hurling League, the first opening round against Kildare on Valentine’s Day so there’ll be no love lost there. We have to be ready for it – they are (the Carlow players).

I think there’s been a good response since the new year, the lads have made New Years Resolutions and I think up to now they’ve been following them. They’re doing good work in the gym, a couple of nights training on the field, and things are starting to turn, starting to move and starting to get a good bit of momentum.

On Kildare he says

They’re good players, well balanced and they’re organised from the puck out and they go at you – they play route one hurling. We have to make the breaks, take the breaks and make sure they don’t get that primary posession.

Carlow go head to head with Kildare on Sunday afternoon and we’ll have full commentary and analysis on our Carlow frequency on air and online.
