After an epic encounter that needed extra time, Carlow’s Ladies Gaelic football team are out of the Junior Football All Ireland championship at the semi-final stage.

Antrim’s second-half extra time performance seen them secure an appearance in the final against Wicklow after a scoreline of 3-22 to 3-18.

Both sides knew each other well having been drawn in the group stages at the same venue but late goals in extra-time saw Antrim get over the line to claim the win.

Carlow’s Clíodhna Ní Shé did find the net in the first half of extra time to complete her hat-trick but Antrim dug deep and will now play Wicklow in the decider at Croke Park.

Scorers – Antrim: G McLaughlin 0-8, M Magee 1-5, C Taggart 1-2 (2f), C Carey 0-5 (1f), C Brown 1-0, A Taggart and T Mellon 0-1 each.

Carlow: C Ní Shé 3-5 (0-3f) D O’Brien 0-8 (4f), S Doyle 0-3, R Sawyer and N Kelly 0-1 each.
