The Carlow Minor Hurling Championship got underway on Monday evening last.
This year Burren Rangers have fielded a minor team bringing the number of teams to eight in the competition meaning seven league games for each team with the top four going through to the semi-finals.
St. Mullins had a big win over Carlow Town 7-13 to 2-8 while Mt. Leinster Rangers defeated Ballinkillen 0-19 to 1-8.
In the closest game of the evening Naomh Bríd just held on for a one point win over Burren Rangers on a 1-9 to 1-8 scoreline.
The Erins Own v Naomh Eoin game was off due to a bereavement. Round 2 is on Thursday evening of this week.
Tonight in Carlow sees fixtures in the Under 12’s hurling division 2 as Naomh Bríd host Mount Leinster Rangers; St. Patrick’s take on Burren Rangers in the Under 14s division 2 while in the Junior Hurling Championshio, Naomh Padraid host Naomh Bríd at Br. Leo Park at 8pm.
