Carlow’s Wes Shirley joined Michael O’Leary on last night’s The Way It Is for a chat about their current position in Leinster League Division 2A, last season’s relegation to this season’s ambition, and more.

The club officially launch their new jerseys this Saturday night, less than 24 hours ahead of the visit of Edenderry to Oakpark where they’ll be looking to put at least another four points on the board at this early stage of the league.

On their good start to the season, Shirley offered

It has indeed (been a good start), thankfully. We were unlucky the first day out, we feel we should have beat Portarlington but we didn’t get the result. Since then, we’ve pushed on to get a few good results, thankfully.

On looking ahead to Edenderry this weekend

(They are a) Good side – from what we know they’re unlucky in the results. They’ll be a tough enough game so they will be, even though it’s at home. We’re hopeful so we are, but we’ll have to work hard and we’ll be hoping to get another win under our belts as well.
