Clare defeat will be driving factor for Kilkenny says former county hurler

Former Kilkenny Senior hurler Michael “Titch” Phelan says that Kilkenny’s League Semi-Final defeat to Clare will be a driving factor as they look to book a place in the Leinster Final on Saturday evening.

Michael won All-Ireland Medals with Kilkenny in 1992 and 1993

Speaking to KCLR, Michael says that Kilkenny have been wrongly written off in certain quarters……

“Having injuries to key players like Richie Hogan won’t help. Maybe some of the form of players could be a worry too but I am sure when the game starts and the ball is thrown in, these things will be put to the back of people’s minds and like Kilkenny as we know they will be ready”

“A lot of people I think even from a media point of view say it could be the death knell of Kilkenny. After Clare beaten in the League Semi-Final, Brian Cody learned more from that defeat than if they had to win, but I am sure they will rise to the occasion come Saturday evening”
