Colum Cronin of the Irish NFL Show joined us this week to discuss the NFL Draft.

The Draft is one of the biggest events in the American football calendar each year and Cronin said that he “had a ball” covering it for Virgin Media this week.

“There have been so many different story lines over the last week and you’re trying to process what is going to happen in each round while also reflecting on everything that has happened in the previous rounds, so it has been absolutely hectic, but it’s always brilliant,” said Cronin.

The Irish NFL Show host highlighted a key position in this year’s draft that many teams have targeted.

“We saw five quarterbacks go in the first 15 picks, so it does tell you the weight of the quarterback position and how much that position is valued by almost every team in the NFL.”

While the Draft is important, the NFL expert was keen to play down the level of impact that it will have come the start of the season.

“Everything is currently on potential, but in a years’ time it may all change and come week ten we could be saying that a team did poorly in the draft even though we are saying that they are doing good at the moment before the season has started.”
