Conahy Shamrocks Junior Hurler James Bergin says it means so much to be playing with his team-mates having been in Croke Park previously as a schoolkid when they won the Junior Club All-Ireland Final back in 2008.
Speaking ahead of this afternoon’s All-Ireland Final showdown against Russell Rovers of Cork, James is hoping to replicate the memories of 12 years ago.
He said “Yeah, 12 years ago now in 2008, I was only 9 years of age at that time so I have still have one of the fondest memories I have of associating with Conahy that day when they won the All-Ireland and the scenes when they came back to the local pub and everything over what happened that night”.
“I still have the memories from it and something that like you see the players that are there, their are 5 or 6 left that were on that team and look now, you are playing with them, you are beside them, you are no longer people that you are looking up, they are your team-mates and it’s just mad how the way it goes so”.
