Kilkenny United were in women’s national league action last night at the Watershed, but unfortunately just missed out against an experienced Cork city. Despite putting the pressure on, Cork’s ladies left with a 4-0 victory, a scoreline which manager Noel Kealy doesn’t think is reflective of the game as a whole.

“Very pleased with the performance, disappointed with the four. I don’t think it reflected the game. I thought we played with a lot of pressure. A lot of the stuff that we’ve been learning over the last few weeks actually came out onto the field which was really pleasing for me. It is what it is.”

Kilkenny are fielding an extremely youthful side this year and while the result on Wendesday night didn’t go their way, improvements have already been made.

“I’m really happy with the potential that’s there. It’s a three year programme and this is year one, so we’ve a lot to do but based on that performance I’m pleased that we’re actually going in the right direction.”
