Evergreen manager Packie Holden says their reward in Saturday’s FAI Junior Cup Final has been a work in progress.
Speaking to KCLR, Packie says they have always target silverware in the external competitions since taking over as manager.
“I’ve been in charge now nearly three years now and we have been relatively successful”, says Holden.
“But from day one, we have always earmarked a provincial or a national title. There is no point getting this close and not finishing the job off, so it’s been a work in progress. And not just since I took over but for a long number of years.”
“Go back to 1999 when I played in a very good side that got to a semi-final, but there is a lot of hard work going on out here. You look at the facilities that club have out here [at the Kells Road venue], and you look at all these kids out here who are the future of the club. Hopefully it’s not going to take twenty or thirty years before we get back to another final so.
Evergreen FC face Sheriff YC this Saturday in the FAI Junior Cup Final at the Aviva Stadium. We’ll have live commentary on air and online from 6pm Saturday evening.
