Carlow Senior Football manager Turlough O’Brien says the current success has lifted the spirits of people within the county.

Speaking to KCLR ahead of Saturday’s game at home to Monaghan, Turlough says the support they have got has added to the occasion.

“The scenes on the pitch there after the game in Dr. Cullen Park at the weekend, and in Ruislip and over in Portlaoise, you can’t buy those occasions”

“Football, it’s more than a game, the joys it brings to peoples lives maybe when things aren’t going well at home or it could be illness or it could be a loss of a job or something and for 70 minutes on a weekend there, a team can lift your spirits and make you feel good about yourself and about your place and about your county and the more people that are there from Carlow, the more we all enjoy it”

“The supporters will enjoy it too and I think we will have a great occasion”
