Ollie O’Neill says that his son Darren doesn’t have any intention of retiring.

The Paulstown man exited the Olympic Qualifiers yesterday in Azerbaijan on a unanimous decision after reaching the last 16.

Speaking to KCLR on last night’s “The way it is”, Ollie expects Darren says it is too early yet to be making any decision

“Well, we just have to get our heads down when come back and think about it, and before he went over anyway, he wasn’t talking about retirement or anything”

“He loves Boxing, and I think he is just going to stay tipping away and obviously he will sit down and I will have to have a chat with him and see what the best thing to do after this. It’s all too early yet even to contemplate him. Darren will make his own mind up in his own time”

Lost 3-0 today. The Rio dream is over. Thanks for all the support everyone. Probably did the better boxing but guy just mauled me. Gutted 😢
