DJ Carey has been added to the Leinster GAA Hall of Fame.
The presentation and ceremony took place at Croke Park ahead of the meeting of Kilkenny and Galway in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship final.
DJ joins other Kilkenny names including the late Michael ‘Ducksy’ Walsh and Eddie Keher.
Currently Kilkenny U21 manager, Carey was presented with his award by Leinster GAA chairperson Jim Bolger (pictured above, via @gaaleinster on Twitter). Over a stellar inter-county career, DJ earned 5 All-Ireland medals, 10 Leinster medals and 9 All-Star awards.
At club level he also won two Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship medals with Young Irelands. The Gowran man announced his retirement from inter-county hurling with Kilkenny on 1 June 2006, leaving the county setup with 33 goals and 188 points over 57 appearances
