Éire Óg will be on the lookout for a new manager for the 2022 season.

Murphy oversaw one of the club’s most successful runs in Carlow football over the past six seasons with Éire Óg winning four of the last five titles, that run broken by Rathvilly earlier this autumn

Murphy himself enjoyed a super playing career with Éire Óg including five provincial wins with the Carlow club, including captaining the side to the Leinster final in 1998 under Pat Critchley.

A short statement from the club via social media paid tribute to the work of Murphy.

“Our senior manager [Joe Murphy] has decided to call time on his tenure as manager. On behalf of all club members, supporters & players, we owe him a sincere thank you for his efforts and unwavering commitment to securing four senior football titles and Leinster final appearance for us.”
