Evergreen and Freebooters renewed their old rivalry last weekend in the Kilkenny Premier Division.

After goals from Ethan Phelan and Andrew Wall, Evergreen left the Watershed on top of the table.

Our first goal from todays superb win. Another for @EthanPhelan1 who has had a sensational start. Shout out as well to Rory Whyte for stepping in as physio. A former Evergreen player, he has seen his career skyrocket and it was great to have him there for our boys today. ☘️⚽️💪🏻 pic.twitter.com/r9uVpRuoDi

Evergreen has Fort Rangers in the league next before their switch their focus to outside competitions in the coming month. the following week Old County FC awaits in the FAI Junior Cup while either Clonmullion FC or Athy Town will provide the opposition in the LFA Junior Cup to round off the month.

Speaking with KCLR Scoreline Evergreen manager Garry Maher states that while the league is the first target, the club has huge aspirations.

“The last couple of years, we would always say, we want to win the local league first and foremost. Our target though at this stage is those two outside competitions. We are not taking our eyes off anything local.”

“It is something our club craves and something our club wants. It is our focus to try to get a Leinster and FAI (title). It is massive for us, massive for a club of our side and all the effort we put in.”

“We want one of those titles.”
