Evergreen manager Gary Maher says the games are coming thick and fast for them in this adapted season but they’re happy to be playing.

The club has four teams, A, B, C, and Evergreen 46 playing in the various cup competitions with three teams in the quarter-finals of the KCLR McCalmont Cup.

They’re also preparing for the Maher Sheild Final against Freebooters but Gary says they have a big squad that helps them cope with all the games.

“We have a big squad here, we’ve always said it that we have a 20 man squad here, and we have the trust in every one of the players,” said Gary.

“It’s a four-week sprint here for two trophies, that’s where our mindset is at and to use the squad fully and to rotate as best we can and keep everyone fresh and keep everyone playing”.

Club growth

The club is flying it with huge numbers playing their soccer on the Kells Road.

They’re in the process of putting in a new astroturf pitch and their playing numbers are growing all the time, Gary told scoreline:

“We have about 800 playing members out here at the moment, it’s just great to have everyone playing football”.

“The members are thriving, our junior set up is no different, we have four junior teams across the three divisions and it’s great to see and great to see that people still have the appetite (for soccer) and want to come out here and play their football,” said Gary.
