Former Kilkenny Senior Hurler and Manager Kevin Fennelly says that too many frees in the game are ruining the Sport.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of Kilkenny’s clash tomorrow against Wexford, Kevin says that the game is definitely suffering as a result.
He said “The one critical thing I would have about hurling right now that there is far too many frees in matches. There is no body contact, if it gets any worse we won’t go to matches at all because there is nothing to shout about.
“It’s all about frees and goalkeepers puck-outs and I think that the game is definitely suffering over it. Five out of seven of the frees last Sunday weren’t frees in my book, and I don’t have any interest in fellows hitting fellows or dirty play in any way, I completely condone that, but if fellow hits a fellow with a shoulder or a fellow stands up to a man running with a ball and gets blown, that sickens me”.
