Eamon Deacy Park was the venue for Kilkenny United v Galway in the Women’s National Soccer League at the weekend.

Galway hit the front on 17 minutes when Aislinn Meaney found the net after a mazy run before hand.

Leeann Payne was causing trouble for Galway but Meabh De Burca made it 2-0 on the half hour mark after heading in from a corner.

Jennifer Chambers almost grabbed one back against her old club after good work from Payne but her effort was stopped.

Aoife Brennan then made it 3-0 and she provided the assist to Lyndsey McKey to make it 4-0 at the break.

Kilkenny were awarded a free kick on the hour mark when Jennifer Chambers was fouled. Sylvia Gee stepped up and whipped the ball into the box for Leeann Payne to slot the ball home to make it Galway 4 Kilkenny United 1.

Galway were rewarded with their fifth in the 81st minute when Grainne Barrett got on the end of a free kick to put the ball into the Kilkenny net.

Final Score – Galway 5-1 Kilkenny United
