Galway Racing General Manager Michael Moloney says that Willie Mullins has taken over from Dermot Weld as the king of Ballybrit.
Willie has been Champion Trainer in Ballybrit in recent years, and speaking exclusively to KCLR, Michael says that the top trainers like the National Hunt Champion Trainer prioritize Summer’s biggest Racing Festival.
He said “He has definitely taken over the mantle from Dermot Weld who was 19 times leading trainer in Galway”.
“Willie will have a huge team coming here again this week across the board in the National Hunt and the Flat and I think people again will latch onto the likes Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott who will also be bringing a huge team to Galway, newer trainers like Joseph O’Brien who I am sure will also have a huge team and Henry De Bromhead, I think everyone targets Galway, it’s a big part of their plans and their year so hopefully they will all be here with big teams and the spoils will be shared around amongst everybody”.
