Clara was the venue for some more top class Ladies Gaelic Football on Saturday With the Under-13 Finals.  First up was the “D” final which featured Barrow Gaels and new club Dunnamaggin. Both defences played particularly well and goals were hard to come by. However, it was the Barrow Gaels side who took the point scoring opportunities the better using their greater experience to win by 0-9 to 0-1.

BARROW GAELS:  Rhianna Kelly, Allie Ryan, Jodie Bolger, Leah Doyle, Holly Brooks, Sophie Phelan, Eimear Holden, Aisling Prendergast, Aoife Cosgrave, Sarah Byrne, Ali Flood, Esther Adebayo, Niamh Fogarty, Ellen Delaney, Holly Carroll

Mentors: Siobhan Ryan, Paula Foley, Rose Cosgrave, Rebecca Flood

DUNNAMAGGIN:  Amy Keane, Emer Dunphy, Ciara Farrell, Keelagh Sheridan, Amy Kinsella, Ella Dunne, Ciara Mulhall, Grace McLoughlin, Amy Fennelly, Laura Davis, Niamh Walsh, Aoibhinn Malzard, Isobel Johnson, Rachel Doherty

Mentors:  Michelle Doherty, TJ Mills, Anne Davis

For the second time this year there was an all Clara affair in a final. The “C” final saw Clara Pinks beat Clara Greens 5-6 to 1-3.  The real winner here was Clara Ladies Gaelic Football. A massive achievement for a relatively new club to get two teams out at both Under-12 and Under-13, ensuring as many players as possible got game time.

CLARA PINK: Saorse Smith, Lineka Artini, Mollie Murphy, Orla Farrell, Kelly Brennan, Lucy Cody, Sinead Healy, Anna Patterson, Peig Carrigan, Siobhan Treacy, Ellen Hughes, Eve O’Donnell, Grainne Glynn, Grace Barcoe

Mentors: Claire Farrell, Theresa Carrigan, Niall Patterson

CLARA GREEN: Katie Ryan, Reece Carter, Laura Langton, Jessica Cullen, Lisa Prendergast, Zoe Fenlon, Miriam Brennan, Rachel Hearan, Maria Nolan, Neasa McGuire, Lauren Fenlon, Keira Ryan, Ella Carroll, Orlaith Byrne, Emer Tobin

Mentors: Annette Langton, Martina Prendergast, Michelle Hearan

The “B” Final was a repeat of the Under-14 “B” final as Piltown did battle with Erins Own.  This game was dominated by Piltown. Once they got into their stride the Piltown team picked off scores and they defended in numbers when under pressure.  This meant the under-14 result was reversed as the southern club won by 2-7 to 0-2.

PILTOWN: Aine Doyle, Aisling Brophy, Chloe Power, Chloe Walsh, Ciara Dunne, Elle Ann Matthias, Emma Culleton, Fiona Downey, Jodie Keever, Lauren Butler, Marlise Flynn, Melissa Byrne, Patsy Kenny, Sally Moroney, Sarah Driscoll

Mentors: Jennifer Norris, Seamus Norris, Sandra Quinn

ERINS OWN: Orlaith Condell, Shauna Kerr, Emma Ring, Sarah O’Neill, Niamh Moore, Molly Coogan  , Ava Brennan, Aisling Delaney, Megan Brennan, Nicole Dowling, Sophie Bourke, Eva Brennan, Ciara Brennan, Ella Nolan, Aoibhinn Brophy, Aoife Walsh, Sarah Brophy, Ciara Normoyle, Michelle Kennedy, Amy Rowe, Katie Clarke, Isabel Delaney, Ella Comerford Jones

Mentors: Eugene Dowling, Tommy Nolan, Aileen Rowe

The “A” Final was also an Under-14 repeat as Thomastown fresh from their replay win, prepared to do battle with Kilkenny City once again. Unfortunately, there was no action in the pitch despite the thriller the previous week as Kilkenny City did not field a team and therefore Thomastown were awarded the title that gave them a well deserved double in one week.

THOMASTOWN:  Cliodhna Donnelly, Sadhbh Croke O’Neill, Eabha Galway, Roisín Dempsey, Roisín O’Keeffe, Dearbhala O’Reilly, Sarah Barcoe, Amy Walsh, Orla O’Keeffe, Daragh Donohue, Sarah O’Neill, Keely Maher, Hannah Monks, Therese Donnelly, Sinead Galway, Edie Maher, Kaelah Begley, Caoimhe Kelly Brennan, Anna Cass, Roisín Moran

Mentors: Anne Barcoe, Brendan Cooke, Gabrielle Durack

Huge credit to the hospitality and facilities as always provided by Clara GAA club. They deserve huge a plaudits and are an example to all GAA clubs.
