While one local sports hero prepares for a crucial world cup game against France on Sunday, another is also preparing for a big semi final showdown with his local club.

Henry Shefflin was invited to travel to Wales along with a host of Irish sports stars to dine with Sean O Brien and the Irish Rugby team and offer some words of wisdom ahead of their game against France in the Millenium Stadium.

AP McCoy, Sonia O’Sullivan, Barry McGuigan and Niall Quinn were also in attendance.

Although Ireland have qualified for the World Cup Quarter finals, a win over France could mean they avoid New Zealand in the draw and instead play a more favorable Argentina.

Henry Shefflin is busy himself this week preparing for the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Semi Finals where Ballyhale Shamrocks clash with O’Loughlin Gaels 3.15pm.

That game is preceded by the other semi final between Mullinavat and Clara at 1.30pm.

The semi finals are at earlier times this year which will give fans a chance to get home and watch the rugby on the telly.

KCLR will of course have LIVE commentary of both Kilkenny Senior Hurling Semi Finals on Sunday with thanks to John Brennan Machinery Supplies Kilkenny.
