At the weekend, in the LFA Cup, Evergreen dispatched of Clonmullion FC, with goals from Ethan Phealan, Mikey Drennan, Ben Hickey, and a brace from David Grincell securing a 5-1 win.
The road to the final now leads home with Ashbourne next up for the Kells Road side. With that fixture scheduled for the 19th of February, Evergreen can enjoy somewhat of a break between now and then with just one fixture in between, when they face Fort Rangers in the KCLR McCalmont Cup.

Evergreen are, of course, defending champions of the KCLR McCalmont Cup, and has been pretty dominant in general in Kilkenny-based competitions. However, speaking to Scoreline former Aston Villa and Current Evergreen striker Mikey Drennan said provincial success is something the club craves;
“We know that we’re one of the top teams in Ireland and it’s just to make that next step.”
“Playing in the Leinster Junior, we need to get one of those trophies, especially with the squad that we have. We need to make that step.”

Evergreen were out the previous week in more outside competition, that time in the form of the FAI Junior Cup. Unfortunately for them, penalties were the Kilkenny’s team undoing against Dublin’s Old County F.C.
“We know if we play our best, we’ll win. That’s the mentality that we have. It’s just to make that step, get that proper experience and the know-how to win even when you’re not playing well. To get that ugly side out and win ugly even when we’re not playing well. And that’s probably what we should have done against Old County FC. “
