Carlow’s U20 Leinster Championship game due to be played tonight will still go ahead despite reports this morning suggested only senior inter-county games will be allowed in level five.
The inter-county minor and under-20 championships could be scrapped for this year, with confusion over what gaelic games can continue once Level 5 restrictions kick in tonight.
There are three games scheduled in the Leinster under-20 hurling championship this evening, while the All-Ireland under-20 football final between Galway and Dublin that was due to take place on Saturday has been called off according to Pat Kearney, chairman of
Galway GAA.
A statement from the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture has said any decision on whether underage championship games can continue is “still being clarified”.
According to reports GAA officials in Croke Park are planning to discuss the latest developments at a meeting later this morning and to seek further clarification from the Government.
Carlow GAA tweeted the following this morning.
Game tonight proceeds as planned.
