Ireland score as many goals as there are counties in Connaught

Ireland versus Spain, Poland versus Sweden. These were the last round of fixtures in Group E, and a lot still had to be decided. Sweden beat Spain, Ireland beat Poland, Ireland and Sweden then draw, while Spain beat Poland. Points flying all over the shop. ireland had a fair crack at topping the group, as did Sweden and Spain.

The magnitude wasn’t lost of the Irish players, Callum Robinson looked very lively as the game was in its infancy. Spain looked to be unsettled, and if they were they were certainly about to be. Robbie Brady darted towards the Spanish defence laying the ball off for an eager Ronbinson, who with two touches drew in seemingly every Spaniard around him to provide space for Robbie Brady. Brady favored power over precision and booted the ball towards the goal, with the ball bouncing off De Gea’s hand before going in. Should De gea of saved it, yes, will Ireland care, no.

As an irish man once said, precision beats power, and Alvaro Morata seemed to be listening. Picking the ball up on the edge of the box, Morata almost chipped the ball into the Irish net. Spain have scored a few crackers and this one was definitely up there. the game was all level, a result that would make sure each team got to the next round.

ireland didnt seem content with only getting to the next round, sure they didnt even want to draw going into half time. Ronbinson proving to be integral in the build up again, provided our own Seanie Maguire with an assist, and just before the half time whistle blew Ireland were up once again.

Any hope Spain had were dashed as they learned Polands fate at half time, they seemed to be disheartened coming back out on the field. That feeling was compounded by the fact Ireland would break away, and score a third just on the other side of the whistle. Robinson this time getting on the score sheet himself, Ireland were crusing. Two more goals for Ireland from both Brady and Robinson capped off a perfect performance from Mark Ryan’s men

Speaking to KCLR after the game manager Ryan was delighted with how the team played ” I felt the boys played fantastic today. Randolph who was all over the place last week against Sweden came out swinging making outrageous saves to keep our lead. The boys were on top from the 1st minute to the 90th minute and showed the fighting Irish. We go onto the Knockout stages. This win is for the Irish fans. COYBIG!!! ”
