IT Carlow Head Coach DJ Carey says that the Fitzgibbon Cup competition should not clash with the National League.
Speaking to KCLR after IT Carlow’s Fitzgibbon Cup Semi-Final defeat to UL, DJ says there is no reason why the National League should not be moved back….
“There should be no clashes of fixtures as far as I am concerned because there should be no National League matches played in the month of January”
“There is no reason why the National League can’t be put back to late February or early March and the competition of the Fitzgibbon Cup should have it’s home where it is”
“We are talking about hurling not been played in December and to put a serious competition like that back”
“If your playing and in College, you should be left to play with them and National League is very important so that means that National League games shouldn’t be played when the Fitzgibbon Cup is going on”
