It’s the first round of the Leinster championships for the county’s footballers who face Wicklow in Aughrim on Sunday.
It was an up-and-down league campaign for Niall Carew’s side, with wins against the like of London and Waterford. the campaign started with much promise after a hearty draw against Wicklow while being reduced to 14 men, bolstered by that win against Waterford immediately after.
However, 2 L’s to Laois and Leitrim immediately followed before the victory against London in Ruislip. This was then backed up with back-to-back losses against Sligo and Wexford.
Darragh Foley of Carlow is looking forward to the 2023 Senior Football Championship.

Selector Simon Rea joined Scoreline over the weekend to reflect on a difficult league campaign for Niall Carew’s side;
“There is probably a little bit of frustration if we were being honest. In terms of what we were looking to get out of it as a team and as management. For most of the games, we were well in them. We were competitive in all the games.”
“It is a little bit frustrating, but there are good signs as well. There are things to work on, which we have identified as a team and management team. So we are working on those ahead of Wicklow.”
