Bad news for fans of Local soccer in Carlow with the Carlow District League chairman Noel Jordon admitting it will be 2021 before the leagues will restart assuming the country wont be in another lockdown by then.

The League had initially played two fixtures with games also being played in the KCLR Sheild before the six week restrictions were implemented.

Speaking with The Carlow Nationalist Jordon admitted it will be mid January before the league will resume, with a season extension to July and abandoning Cup games being considered.

Speaking with KCLR CDL secretary Bryan O’reilly outlined that they have liaised with clubs “We have to be conscious that clubs under the current level five restrictions wont be allowed train, so the feedback is they would like a couple of weeks training. Dr. Tony Holohan and the experts say that may be possible to be back to level three at the first of December, so we want to give the clubs at least three weeks to train. So we have pencilled the first week or mid January, to be fair to everybody.”

If level three restrictions are in place in December, looks like folks will be back to early preseason running!
