Carlow Senior Hurling defender David English says it wouldn’t be wise to be reading too much into Carlow’s matches in the Walsh Cup when they defeated Laois and Offaly.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of Saturday night’s game against Dublin in Parnell Park, David says all the teams will have stepped up their preparations since the beginning of pre-season.
He said “Winning becomes a habit but having said that, it was December and January when you are playing those games so you kind of have to take the results with a pinch of salt nearly in a way”.
“It is good to play Laois and Offaly so early in the year and kind of see where you are at and I know we played Dublin in the first round of the Walsh Cup on a very poor night in Carlow. There was bits you could take out of that game, but having said that all the teams throughout the country would have come a long way since the end of November or start of December when you played those games:.
David said “It is nice to get the wins, however, League and then moving into Championship are different competitions and you do need to step up every time that you move from competition to competition”
We have live commentary of the game here on KCLR on Saturday evening on our Carlow Frequencies.
