Former Kilkenny hurler Michael Fennelly says you need to manage a team for a few years before you can really make the impact you want.
Michael was speaking after he was ratified by the Offaly County Board to continue for another season in charge of their county hurlers.
He says it takes time to get to know a team and get them doing what you want.
“You probably need three or four years realistically to put your stamp on things, this year we’ve only had five or six months with the players in terms of training and that, so it’s very little time, three nights a week” said Michael.
“When you’re starting at a low level and you’re trying to put in a new culture and create a new identity and bring new standards, that’s going to take a lot of time, it’s not something that you can go into and flick a switch” he added.
