Ken Doherty to be honoured with Hall of Fame award at SBI Academy grand opening in Carlow

1997 World Snooker champion Ken Doherty is in Carlow on Wednesday evening as the first inductee to the SBI Hall of Fame.

25 years on from stopping Stephen Henry in his tracks and becoming World Champion, Ken Doherty will be recognised with a Hall of Fame award in Carlow on Wednesday night.

Snooker & Billiards Ireland (SBI) are hosting an evening with Ken Doherty to mark the grand opening of their new headquarters, academy and centre of excellence in Carlow.

Celebrating the outstanding career of one of Ireland’s greatest ever snooker players, the ‘darling of Dublin’ will play some exhibition frames with a number of top junior Irish players as well fellow Irish Professional from the north-side of Cork City, Aaron Hill before sitting down with MC Aonghus McAnally for a look back over his career to date, that World Snooker win in 1997 and much more besides.

Tickets, if they’re still available, are priced €20 and available via ticketstop.ie. Doors open at 6pm.
