Kilkenny Rugby Club Head Coach Packie Henebry says they can achieve great progression if they can consolidate their position in Division 1A of the Leinster League.

The club are on a solid run of results and they are now up to fifth in following a slow start on their return to Division 1A.

Speaking to KCLR ahead of this Saturday’s clash at home to Gorey, Packie says a winning habit means an awful lot.

“If we can sustain it for a couple of years [their place in the division]  and then maybe drive on [with] what we are doing, and try and do what Enniscorthy are doing.”

“If we can compete at their level [it will] give us a bit of confidence going into the Provincial Towns Cup as well. We drew Carlow in that, maybe have a good run in that as well.”

Kilkenny bowed out of the Provincial Towns in the early stages last year but went on to secure Provincial Towns Plate.

“We have a good history in the Towns Cup and reached a couple of finals in the last couple of years, but unfortunately lost them.”

“But if we can sustain that, winning becomes a habit. It’s the same as losing. If you lose a game, then you lose two and it comes a habit of losing.”

“You win one or two then it becomes a habit of winning, so there is a good buzz within the club, the boys are flying it and they have really bought into everything that is going on out there.”
