This is not a drill.
Live hurling is back on KCLR and Scoreline this weekend as the National Hurling League gets underway for 2021.
While fans won’t be in attendance at games yet, we’ll be live on the sidelines and in the stands as Kilkenny travel to Parnell Park on Saturday to face Dublin while Carlow welcome Wicklow to Netwatch Cullen Park on Sunday.
Dublin v Kilkenny
Brian Cody’s men were last seen on the pitch on 28 November last as Waterford edged the Cats with a superb second-half showing to book a place in the 2020 All-Ireland SHC final, 2-27 to 2-23.
While we’ve seen the likes of Paul Murphy and Ger Aylward retire from inter-county action and Colin Fennelly book a year out, Kilkenny are expected to name some fresh faces on Friday night for the team due to travel on Saturday.
We’ll have full commentary and analysis of Kilkenny and Dublin, with a 3.30pm throw-in time, live on-air, online and in-app. Listen to the game here (link active from Saturday).
Carlow v Wicklow
On Sunday afternoon we’ll be returning to Netwatch Cullen Park as neighbours Wicklow make the short hop to town and face Carlow in the opening round of Division 2A of the National Hurling League.
It will be Kilkenny native Tom Mullally’s first competitive fixture in charge of Carlow, having been ratified as manager for this season in early January. Mullally was at the helm for Mount Leinster Rangers’ Leinster title in 2013 and Club All-Ireland appearance in the same year.
He will have some familiarity with the competition on Sunday having been involved with Wicklow’s senior setup previously.
Joining Mullally on the sidelines in Carlow will be selectors Chris Kealy, Joe Nolan and Pat Murphy alongside coaches John Dermody and Paddy Mullally.
Shane Hynes will be the man in the middle as our coverage begins on-air, online and in-app at 2pm.
