Eight time All-Ireland winner with Kilkenny, Eddie Brennan is set to be the new Laois senior hurling manager.

Brennan was ratified by the Laois county board on Monday alongside selectors Tommy Fitzgerald (Portlaoise) and Fran Dowling (Camross).

The appointment marks the first foray into senior hurling management for the Kilkenny native.

Brennan most recently guided the Kilkenny U21s to last year’s All-Ireland final before being replaced by DJ Carey. Carey has been ratified for the role again in 2019 for the new U-20 grade.

The Graigue-Ballycallan clubman, 39, replaces Eamonn Kelly in the role following two years at the helm, and now starts planning for next year’s Joe McDonagh Cup.

Continuing with appointments, David Cuddy (Castletown) was confirme as Laois U20 manager alongside selectors Enda Maher (Rathdowney/Errill), Brendan Lowry (Camross), Derek Delaney (Portlaoise) and Chris Murray (Colt). Enda Lyons will guide the Laois minors through 2019.
