Kilkenny’s Walsh Cup campaign begins this weekend with a clash against Offaly.

John Locke Park will play host to the meeting between last year’s Leinster champions and the 1998 All-Ireland winners.

Sunday’s encounter throws-in at 2pm and marks the beginning of Derek Lyng’s time in charge of the Cats.

Callan will also be the location of Johnny Kelly’s first game as manager of the 2021 Christy Ring Cup champions.

Trips to Laois and Wexford complete a busy period for Kilkenny before they begin their Allianz National Hurling League campaign.

Attentions will then turn to the championship where they will be hoping to defend their provincial crown and go one-step further in the All-Ireland series by lifting the Liam MacCarthy Cup for the first time since 2015.

Kilkenny’s 2023 Walsh Cup fixtures:

Kilkenny vs Offaly – Sunday, January 8th, John Locke Park, 2pm

Laois vs Kilkenny – Sunday, January 15th, Rathdowney, 2pm

Wexford vs Kilkenny – Saturday, January 21st, Chadwicks Wexford Park, 6pm
