Carlow Minor Football manager Ken Hickey says that nobody on the panel was told not to play any other sport during their involvement with the panel.
Nurney Villa play St Kevin’s Boys under 17’s in the Leinster Youth’s Cup Final on Saturday with three panelists involved and speaking to KCLR ahead of Sunday’s Leinster Minor Quarter-Final clash against Wexford, Ken says it’s up to the players involved to decide what they want to do themselves.
“First of all, I would like to wish Nurney the best of luck. In fairness, it’s a Leinster Final as well, I mean the three lads have trained really hard with us and they are part of our panel until we pick the team and it’s certainly not going to be easy for them to play a game on Saturday and it could go to extra-time.
“Nobody has ever been told not to play anything in our grouping. If that’s what they play, that’s what they play so they are in a Leinster Final with their club and we won’t be stopping them from playing that, it’s their decision, it’s not ours.”
