Kilkenny Senior selector Derek Lyng says the Walsh Cup competition offers players a chance to prove themselves.
Speaking to KCLR after yesterday’s comprehensive victory over Antrim, Derek says next Sunday’s game against Westmeath will be a good work out.
“There is a good few players that are caught up with Colleges at the moment and can’t make it. It’s a bit tricky alright with numbers and everything else but it’s the same for everybody and as the Walsh Cup progresses and we get into the early stages of the League, all those players will be back again so we will have a full squad to look at then and different option. It will be another good workout for us either way(against Westmeath) and again, it’s all about preparation and getting ready for the League and everything else, a chance for lads to prove themselves”
