Henry Shefflin says that all the teams competing in the Celtic Challenge will play top quality opposition.
Henry is an ambassador for the tournament, and speaking to KCLR before Saturday’s finals in Netwatch Cullen Park, Henry says there are plenty of games for all the hurlers competing.
“Yeah exactly, and games at your level as well so teams are seeded to play in the early rounds. They play a couple of matches against teams that are in their location and then they are seeded for the rest of the Championship, for the rest of the finish of it so you are seeded in the right level and you get to play opposition, you get to play strong opposition, you get to play the Kilkennys, and the Tipperarys and the Waterfords as well and it is great for some up and coming young hurlers and all these lads, and it’s great to get that opportunity as well”
On a different note Henry also told KCLR that Kilkenny have always risen their game to the bigger team when their backs were against the wall.
Shefflin added that Kilkenny are always at their best when bouncing back from a bad loss.
“Kilkenny over the years have always risen their game to one of the big teams so it will be very interesting.
“It will be a quick turnaround, the draw is on Monday, the match is on Saturday so there won’t be much preparation.
“I am sure the lads are training hard after the Wexford match, and Kilkenny have always bounced back from a bad loss and I think lads wouldn’t be that happy but as well as that, they had injuries, they had players who were touch and go before the match so hopefully those things will be resolved and they will be ready to go come Saturday week,” he concluded.
